the following are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Search Hall Public Labs.

Q. How many computer labs are located in Search Hall?

A. There are four academic computing labs located in Search Hall, which are generally open during regular fall, spring, and summer sessions.

Q. How many scanners are located in Search Hall?

A. There are two scanners available for use, both are located in lab CP1 in Search Hall.

Q. How many printers are located in each lab in Search Hall?

A. With the exception of Lab 303 (which has no printer), all others have a Kyocera FS9500 printers in each lab.  Each Kyocera prints 500 pages per minute, and have a resolution of 1200 dpi

Q. How do I get assistance if I am working in the labs?

A. The four academic computing labs in Search Hall are generally open during regular fall, spring, and summer sessions. Lab Assistants are on duty during lab hours, and can be easily identified by the Green colored lab assistant signs posted at their computer workstations.

If a lab assistant is unavailable, and you have questions, please stop by the Technology Help Desk office (Search Hall, 2nd Floor) for assistance.

Q. How do I configure my computer to access the University's network from the labs (wired connection only)?

A. Students must connect to the University's network from Lab CP1. You will need CAT 5 cable (your own), and a configuration instruction guide.  Instruction guides can be obtained from the Technology Help Desk (Search Hall, 2nd Floor), or from our website at:

If a lab assistant is unavailable, and you have questions, please stop by the Technology Help Desk office (Search Hall, 2nd Floor) for assistance.

Q. What kind of printers are utilized in the labs?

Q. Where can I print out color copies?

A. Currently, our labs do not house a color printer; however, there is a color printer located in the Media Services department of Gutman Library.

Q. Where are zip drives located in the labs?

A. Students are required to bring their own zip drives; however, we provide a USB cable and driver for your zip drive.

Q. Who is allowed to use the labs in Search Hall?

A. The four academic computing labs in Search Hall are available to all University students, faculty, and staff in compliance with Information Technology policy and conditions of use for computer services.
